The Importance of Reviews and Ratings

For as long as I can remember, I marched to my own beat. I could care less of what others thought of me. Mom said: be a leader not a follower, never mind what other folks say or think about you, be your own person. That was fine with me until I became a publisher and discovered the power and importance of opinions. In particular when those opinions are packaged as reviews and/or ratings. It doesn’t matter if you’re looking to buy a car, a leaf blower, wig or a book. People want to know what other buyers are saying about the product.

People don’t mind rating a product. It only consists of a click of the mouse. However, most are reluctant to write reviews for a number of reasons. Not enough time. They feel it’s not worth it or nobody cares. Whatever past reasons you had, I say do away with them.

Reviews and Ratings help both seller and buyer. They let the seller know if they are on the right track and if their product is as good as they think it is. They also provide the seller with tips on improving their product directly from the people who have it. Reviews and Ratings help the potential buyer make an informed decision on whether or not said product is for them before making the purchase. So, I say let’s respectfully share our opinions so that our voices may be heard.
